Editing macros: error message
Problem
For some users, the edit dialog of a document or list macro shows an error message after trying to log in. The problem occurs for the server and the cloud version.
Solution
The logged-in users should have at least read access to the root SharePoint site collection to perform search queries on the SharePoint List and Document macro configuration.
Open the root site collection of your tenant
Edit the site permissions (in the site settings)
Add read permissions to the affected user
