Metadata values can be used as value references by the Comala Document Management App.
See their documentation for details and a detailed description how to access and integrate Metadata into the Comala Document Management Data Center app.
It is currently not possible to change Metadata values via Comala Document Management. However, we are tracking this issue as a possible new feature: METADATA-193
